Staffordshire Wildlife Trust talk: The glorious history of Britain's wild coastline by Dave Hollis. Venue: All Saints Church Hall, Branston Road. Cost: adults £2.50, children free.

BCV walk: Spires & Stiles. A 9-mile walk (5.5 hours, 10+ stiles) from the Rosliston Forestry Centre, led by BCV as part of the National Forest Walking Festival (walk 13 in the brochure). Meet outside the Hub Café DE12 8JX at 10.15 am. Car parking charge £3 all day. A circular walk with a rural feel taking in many developing National Forest plantations, plus some Burton Conservation Volunteers projects to view along the way. Notable for the distinctive church spires and a visit to the furthest point from the sea in the British Isles. Bring food and drink for the walk. BCV walk: Washlands to Walton. Our annual 12-mile walk (6.5 hours, 2 stiles) from the Washlands car park (off Watson Street DE14 3AH), led by BCV as part of the National Forest Walking Festival (walk 60 in the brochure). A flat circular walk along the Trent to Walton Bridge, lunch at Barton Marina then return via the Trent & Mersey canal. Lots of Burton Conservation Volunteers Projects to view along the way, plus new and established nature reserves close to Burton. Contact Richard on 01283 223152 if you need more details.
